CIELAB (L*a*b*)
A colour space that describes colour with three values: lightness, red to green, and yellow to blue.
L* runs from 0 (black) to 100 (white). a* runs from green (negative) to red (positive), and b* from blue (negative) to yellow (positive). For a white filler, a high L* and a b* close to zero are the goal.
Because CIELAB is designed to match how people see colour differences, it is widely used to compare fillers and pigments.
