Barium sulphate from our own mines.

KHN Minerals mines barite in Konya and Isparta and micronizes it at our plant in Akyazı. We supply micronized barium sulphate to paint and coatings producers, and API barite for drilling fluids.

One company from the ground to the bag. We own the mines, run the micronizing plant and test the ore and the finished product in our own laboratory.

That control lets us match the ore to what each customer needs, and keep the product consistent from one batch to the next.

Two product lines from our own ore.

Barium sulphate is chemically inert, very dense and has a low surface area. We grade it for the job it has to do.

Micronized barium sulphate

Ground in our micronizing plant to a range of particle sizes, in high, medium and low brightness grades.

  • High whiteness thanks to low Fe2O3 content
  • High purity and non-abrasive, with very low SiO2
  • Several micron sizes from our own mills

API barite

The weighting agent drilling fluids depend on. Barite raises mud density so crews can control high formation pressures.

  • Suppresses high pressure and helps prevent blowouts
  • Soft mineral that is gentle on drill bits
  • Does not interfere with magnetic measurements downhole

We control it from the ground up.

Our ore comes from our own licensed sites in Konya and Isparta. It is beneficiated at the mine, then micronized at our plant in Akyazı, Sakarya, within easy reach of İstanbul.

Where our barite goes.

Most of the world's barite ends up in drilling fluids. Paints and coatings are the other big market, and there whiteness and purity matter most.

Paints & coatings

A bright, inert filler for paints and coatings, including epoxy systems. Low iron keeps the colour clean.

Drilling fluids

Between 69 and 77 percent of barite used worldwide goes into drilling mud for oil and gas exploration, as the standard weighting material.

Particle size analyser in the KHN Minerals laboratory

Tested at the mine and again in the lab.

Quality control starts with samples from the mine. We check purity and oxide content by XRF, then measure particle size, colour and physical properties on the finished product.
