Beneficiation
Processing ore to remove impurities and increase the content of the valuable mineral.
Run-of-mine barite contains other minerals mixed in with it. Beneficiation separates the barite from these impurities to raise the BaSO4 content and improve properties such as whiteness and density.
Common beneficiation methods for barite are gravity separation (including jigging), magnetic separation and flotation.
