Barite in paint production

Why low iron and low silica make barium sulphate a strong filler for paints and coatings.

White paint being rolled onto a wall

Barium sulphate is chemically inert, very dense and has a low surface area. In paints and coatings, those properties make it a stable filler that does not react with the rest of the formulation.

Purity and whiteness

Two numbers decide how well a barite works in paint. Low SiO2 content makes the powder high purity and non-abrasive. Low Fe2O3 content gives it high whiteness, so it does not shift the colour of the finished paint.

Our barium sulphate is produced in our micronizing plant in Akyazı in several particle sizes, and in high, medium and low brightness grades.
