Magnetic separation
Removing magnetic impurities, such as iron-bearing minerals, from ore with a magnetic field.
Iron-bearing minerals such as siderite can be pulled out of barite ore with a magnetic separator. Wet magnetic separation is common for barite.
Removing iron improves whiteness and is how low-iron barite grades are produced.
